Soane Museum moves towards humanoid robot installations
The Soane Museum has long sought to modernize itself in a way to become more appealing to younger generations which have become swept up in fast paced content. Many teens and young adults today can hardly imagine a visit to the musuem describing it as old fashioned and boring. Archibald Harrison the musuem head of affairs is quoted saying,
"The addictive nature of social media and the expansion of virutal realities has made it all too difficult to draw in the same crowds we used to. The once fascinating and bewondered artifacts of this great museum are at a great risk of become obselete to the youth. That is why we have partnered with Xpeng to bring our once dormant artifacts back to life using the help of their excellently produced humanoid robots."
As Dr. Harrison says, the Soane Musuem will opens its 28 new humanoid robot exhibits in the coming spring. These will include modernizations of some of its most popular attractions like the rossetta stone, the mummies of ancient egypt, and the sculptures of the parthenon. The musuem plans to clad the robots in clothing representative of the time period they are acting. They will act as real life ancient egyptians and show onlooks detailed demonstrations of the mummifaction process and much more.
The musuem claims this is all in an effort to draw in more crowds and make the once stale musuem a more interactive. Other supporters of the change also claim that it will make the museum more accessible to the visually impaired. Allowing them to speak to the robotic exhibits rather than being forced to read the small texts dotted around in hard to locate places.
The SharpEdge has been given exclusive access to some of the early exhibit footage as displayed above.
